Article Solicitation:
Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal, Volume 21
The Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal, formerly a bi-lingual journal of Buddhist Studies for scholars writing in Chinese or English, now accepts articles in English only. This change will go into effect with publication of our next issue, Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal Volume 21. Scholars writing in Chinese and Japanese are encouraged to submit articles to The Dharma Drum Journal of Buddhist Studies (please see Article Solicitation: Dharma Drun Journal of Buddhist Studies)
The Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal is now accepting academic manuscripts in English relating to Buddhism in the areas of Literature, History, Philology, Philosophy, Art, Psychology, and Education.
Articles should be no longer than 20,000 words, and should be submitted electronically. Acceptable software formats are DOC, RTF, XML, and INDD. A PDF-version of your file may accompany one of the above formats to forestall printing errors, but please do not submit a PDF-version alone.
Please include a 500-word abstract, a list of keywords, and a bibliography. Notes and citations should be in the form of footnotes. Articles should be double-spaced, using a twelve-point font. Fonts should be Unicode compatible. Chinese characters are acceptable, but Sanskrit, Pali, and Tibetan words should be romanized.
The Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal is an internationally circulated peer-reviewed academic journal. The journal judges submissions on the basis of scholarly excellence while maintaining an attitude of broad-mindedness. Perspectives representing varying points of view are embraced. The editors urge scholars to adhere to normal stylistic conventions such as those set forth in the Chicago Manual of Style. Deadline for submissions is December 15, 2007. Publication date for Volume 21 is July, 2008
The Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal reserves the right to edit manuscripts for content and style.
The Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal does not accept manuscripts which have been published previously. Once a contributed manuscript is accepted for publication, copyright belongs to this publication. The Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies also retains the right to publish articles from the Journal on Internet databases belonging to the Institute, as well as on CD-ROM. Republication by the author in other periodicals or books, as well as distribution in any other form, is prohibited without prior permission.
The Journal does not pay royalties. Upon publication, each author will receive two complimentary copies of the Journal in which the articles appears, and 10 reprints of the article.
Domestic and overseas organizations are welcome to establish academic periodical exchanges.
